The Faculty of Health Sciences’ Secretariat reports to the executive vice dean and associate vice president, academic and to the dean and vice president, Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at McMaster University.
Within the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Secretariat’s primary function is to manage:

Policies and Procedures
- Serve as a resource for the University Secretariat on matters specific to the Faculty of Health Sciences and, when appropriate, provide advice and support on policy changes that affect the Faculty of Health Sciences
- Maintain policies and procedures specific to the Faculty of Health Sciences, including maintaining historical records
- Ensure university policies and procedures are followed and that information is forwarded to the appropriate offices in a timely manner
- Serve as a resource to members of the faculty on matters related to academic policies and procedures
- Assist with privacy requests related to the faculty, by serving as a liaison between the University’s Privacy Office and contacts within FHS

Committees
- Provide scheduling, planning, minute-taking and other support services for the faculty’s Executive Council and the School of Medicine (MDSM) Council
- Manage elections of FHS faculty to university and faculty level committees

Selections and Elections
- Manage Terms of Reference (ToR) for leadership roles
- Develop selection committees for review and approval
- Manage recruitment, selection and renewal processes for faculty leadership positions
- Assist in onboarding of new leaders.
